The cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) is perhaps the most recognisable wildflower in Europe. Its vivid blue blooms appear from June to August, providing rich nectar for bumblebees and honeybees.
Once common in Irish cornfields, the cornflower has become rare in the wild — growing your own is a direct act of conservation. An annual species that's easy to grow from seed, it self-sows reliably once established.
Perfect for cutting gardens, wildflower borders, or adding colour to meadow mixes.

Sowing Instructions
Sow directly where they are to flower, March–May or September. Scatter on prepared soil and rake in lightly. Water well. Seedlings appear in 2–3 weeks. Thin to 15cm apart if densely sown.
